November Meeting
I have been falling down on my job of posting to the website. Sorry! November’s meeting will be held on Nov 12 at 6:30 pm at the Drawbridge Puppet Theater. The meeting will be our annual holiday pot luck dinner and gift exchange. Always good eats and a good time. There will be no meeting in December.
August Meeting will be held 8/13/08 at 6 pm
Our August meeting will be held at Vicki Goguen’s home and gardens on 8/13/08. Vicki has a beautiful water feature as well as lovely gardens. Vicki lives at 963 Chase Rd., Lunenburg. We will meet at 6 pm. All are welcome - members and guests!
The Common is Complete!
Renovation work on the common is complete! Feel free to stop by and walk the new garden! Special thanks for Michelle Harvey for all her time, effort and expertise! Thanks to Lakeview Nurseries, Lakeview Landscaping, Stillman’s Greenhouses for incredible donations to the project. Also thanks to Montachusett Lawn Sprinkler Co. for repairing the sprinkler system twice! These gardens will only be more beautiful over time.
June 11 Garden Club Meeting
We will be meeting at 6 pm at Tower Hill Botanical Gardens. Feel free to arrive earlier. Anyone interested in an informal tour of the grounds should meet at the education center at 6 pm. If you have never been to Tower Hill - it is the hidden gem of North Central MA.
Plant Sale Profits
Congratulations to all of the Turkey Hill Gardeners for the most successful plant sale to date. Net profits $2,176! Also - thanks to Maki’s, Aubucheons, Dave McPhearson, Dana Spinney, Elena’s Gourmet Grocery, Dick’s Markey, Central MA Garden Center, Trudy’s Treats, and Proctor’s Landscaping for donations to the raffle!
Annual Plant Sale May 31 rain date June 1
The annual plant sale will be held on May 31/rain date June 1. Please pot up as many plants as you can for the sale. Plants should be potted up several weeks before the sale so they can recover from any shock. All plants should be brought to the back of the old library by Friday May 30th - 4 pm - for pricing. The sale will start at 9 am. We will need help pricing plants and setting up, breaking down and during the plant sale.
Upcoming events for the Garden Club
Planting of the common: We will plant on Sat morning May 10th at 10 am. We are doing this because all of the plants aren’t in yet and growers are shipping a little later due to the cold weather earlier. We want to be sure that we have all of the plants and can get the garden planted in one day. So mark your calendars! If you have anything that is convenient to move mulch in - bring it with you.
Spring clean up of the common: We are still planning on doing the clean up on Sat April 26 at 10 am. Please bring rakes, driveway brooms, trash bags - what you have.
May meeting: Next month’s meeting will be held a week earlier than usual. We will be meeting on May 7th. We will meet at Renee’s house ( 520 Page Street) at 6 pm, and do our annual plant swap. From there, we will travel to the gardens on Horse Pond Road.
Board and standing committees are meeting April 30th at 7 pm at the Library.
Civic beautification committee is meeting April 23rd at Michelle’s house at 7 pm.
Planting a Kitchen Herb Garden - Free and Open to the Public - April 9th
Linda Russell from Scentsibilities in Boylston will be presenting April 9th at 7 - 8:30 pm at the Lunenburg High School Auditorium.
New friend of the garden club, herbalist Linda Russell, is the owner of Scentsibilities, where the focus is on herbal plants and products.
Come join us to learn about growing, harvesting, cooking and preserving herbs. . And find out which herbs work best in containers so you too can have fresh herbs throughout the year.
Representatives of the club will be present to answer questions regarding membership and the calendar of events.
Refreshments will be served.

March 12th meeting
Our meeting on March 12th at 7 pm at the Drawbridge Puppet Theater will feature Todd Kelly from Proctor’s - to discuss hardscapes in your garden. Join us!
Worcester Flower Show trip cancelled
Our field trip to the Worcester Flower Show for March 1st is canceled due to the impending storm. I hope everyone who is interested can get there later on Saturday or on Sunday. We will try another trip when the weather is better.
