Turkey Hill Gardeners invites you to join us for our April meeting with Matthew Landry and Scott Mundie of Forever Green Landscaping and Forever Green Ponds. They’re presentation will be on spring pond care. Both Matthew and Scott are very knowledgeable in all areas of ponds - from installation, to maintenance, to appropriate plant material to trouble shooting pond issues. They will be available to answer any of your pond questions. The presentation will also include the benefits of rainwater collection for landscape irrigation, water features and wildlife habitat.
This meeting is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The meeting will take place on April 22nd at 7 pm in the Community Room at the Lunenburg Public Library on Rt. 2A. Bring a friend!
We are be hosting a program this month featuring an arborist to discuss the damage to your trees due to the ice storm. Feel free to bring questions and photos. We will meet March 11th at 7 pm at the Drawbridge Puppet Theater. Feel free to bring your significant other. It may take both of you to tackle those trees this spring.
We will be meeting Wed. Feb. 11th at 7 pm at the Drawbridge Puppet Theater on Rt. 2 A in Lunenburg. The topic for the meeting will be planning for the common this year. A slide show of the development of the common and it’s growth through last season will be shown. Plans with plantings will be available. We will talk about what worked, what didn’t work and what we would like to do this year. We need to plan for what annuals to install, what perennials to replace/divide and the best method for maintenance. This is the flagship project for our club and we have received tons of compliments and publicity. We want everyone’s input as to how to make the common look beautiful. Please come and be a part of the planning of the common.
After taking December off, the Garden Club will meet on January 14th at the Drawbridge Puppet Theater. Sandra will be presenting part two on Organic Gardening. This is a continuation of her presentation at our October meeting. If you are interested in having your soil tested, please come at 6:30 pm. Sandra’s presentation will begin promptly at 7pm. I have been falling down on my job of posting to the website. Sorry! November’s meeting will be held on Nov 12 at 6:30 pm at the Drawbridge Puppet Theater. The meeting will be our annual holiday pot luck dinner and gift exchange. Always good eats and a good time. There will be no meeting in December.
Our August meeting will be held at Vicki Goguen’s home and gardens on 8/13/08. Vicki has a beautiful water feature as well as lovely gardens. Vicki lives at 963 Chase Rd., Lunenburg. We will meet at 6 pm. All are welcome - members and guests!
Renovation work on the common is complete! Feel free to stop by and walk the new garden! Special thanks for Michelle Harvey for all her time, effort and expertise! Thanks to Lakeview Nurseries, Lakeview Landscaping, Stillman’s Greenhouses for incredible donations to the project. Also thanks to Montachusett Lawn Sprinkler Co. for repairing the sprinkler system twice! These gardens will only be more beautiful over time.
We will be meeting at 6 pm at Tower Hill Botanical Gardens. Feel free to arrive earlier. Anyone interested in an informal tour of the grounds should meet at the education center at 6 pm. If you have never been to Tower Hill - it is the hidden gem of North Central MA.
Congratulations to all of the Turkey Hill Gardeners for the most successful plant sale to date. Net profits $2,176! Also - thanks to Maki’s, Aubucheons, Dave McPhearson, Dana Spinney, Elena’s Gourmet Grocery, Dick’s Markey, Central MA Garden Center, Trudy’s Treats, and Proctor’s Landscaping for donations to the raffle!
The annual plant sale will be held on May 31/rain date June 1. Please pot up as many plants as you can for the sale. Plants should be potted up several weeks before the sale so they can recover from any shock. All plants should be brought to the back of the old library by Friday May 30th - 4 pm - for pricing. The sale will start at 9 am. We will need help pricing plants and setting up, breaking down and during the plant sale.
